CHUCK MILLER Ashtanga Yoga Festival

Chuck Miller started yoga in 1971 with a meditation practice and an interest in yoga philosophy and psychology.  When he found that yoga also included physical culture he was amazed at the depth and breadth yoga offered.  

After discovering “Light on Yoga” in 1974 he worked with the course of study in the back of the book until he met his first teacher in the flesh, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, in 1980.  “He was quite amused that I could learn from a book and so made me watch class the first day. I was hooked and came back, continuing to study and practice to the current day.”

Many teachers and teachings have continued to inform Chuck’s practice and he finds Ashtanga Yoga is a great vessel to absorb them all, take what is useful, digest well and use them to make the practice richer and stronger, safer and more spiritual.  “The intention is to be non-dogmatic and open to what is useful and effective.  I encourage the development of self-reliance and the compassionate support of the individual’s evolution.”
